Chappie and Pedigree recall

Mars Petcare UK has issued a recall of some Chappie and Pedigree dry dog foods in the UK due to concerns that they might contain excessive vitamin D.
Only certain batches and pack sizes are affected.
What is the risk?
According to the Food Standards Agency, the risk changes depending on how long your dog is exposed to the high level of vitamin D.
Over a few weeks or months, the FSA says that the risk is low. However, over the longer term the situation can get serious. Signs to look out for include:
- lethargy
- stiffness
- vomiting
- diarrhoea
- loss of appetite
- increased thirst
- increased urination (polyuria)
- excessive drooling
- and weight loss.
Very high levels can lead to kidney failure. If you are worried, you should contact your vet.
How do I check if my dog’s food is affected?
Check the product name, pack size, batch number, and best before date to see if matches any of the following.
